The scarf is woven from cotton locally grown around the small villages where the weavers work from home or in local community centres. The scarves combine the craft of handweaving with contemporary design. The weaving of the fine yarn requires time and skill. The gentle softness of the scarf gives comfort against a chilly breeze and cools on a hot summer day. The cotton is unbleached and dyed with AZO free dye.

Material: 100% cotton muslin
65 x 200 cm

The scarf is woven by the weavers of the Mangtha Project, started in 2016 by the Kala Swaraj Foundation in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh. The support of Kala Swaraj helps the weavers in this areay to develop a sustainable income, with meaningful work in which they can take pride and which enables them to support their familiy. This helps the communities to thrive again, prevents the weaving craft from decline and provides opportunities in an area where there are so few.
